Liverpool have made a move for Florian Wirtz

Liverpool appear to have officially entered the race for one of Europe’s most sought-after talents, Florian Wirtz. Liverpool have held talks with the Bayer Leverkusen star and his family, signaling their strong interest in bringing him to Anfield.

The attacking midfielder have had a sensational season, playing a vital role in Leverkusen’s historic domestic double under Xabi Alonso. Wirtz has been one of the most productive players in Europe, combining vision, creativity, and composure well beyond his years. His technical brilliance and ability to unlock defences have made him a standout figure in the Bundesliga and a prime target for top clubs across the continent.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also interested to be monitoring Wirtz closely, with City even said to have reached a verbal agreement with Leverkusen. However, Wirtz’s father and agent has previously stated that the player intends to stay at Leverkusen for at least one more season, making any immediate transfer, unless a club makes an offer.

Even so, Liverpool’s  meeting shows they’re not sitting back in this race. Whether they land Wirtz this summer or position themselves for a future move, the message is clear. Liverpool want to be at the front of the queue for the Bundesliga’s brightest talent.
